Marriage Preparation at St. Mary of Redford
It is perhaps an understatement to say that marriage is a big commitment. You’re preparing to commit yourself to one person and raise a family with them. You will be responsible for caring for each other and for your children. The Catholic Church wants to prepare you as much as possible so that you can begin your marriage on a firm foundation. In order to do this, we require the couple go through a formation process, also known as marriage prep.
This process includes:
1) Meeting with Fr. Athanasius (our pastor) and the wedding coordinator.
2) Learning about what marriage is and what Catholics believe about marriage.
3) Going to confession (if you are a baptized Catholic) before your wedding day.
St. Mary of Redford uses the classes and structure provided by the Archdiocese of Detroit’s program Witness to Love.
