Divine Office - The Liturgy of the Hours
Together with Mass, the Divine Office is the official liturgical prayer of the Church. It is an extension of the celebration of Mass and is meant to sanctify the day. Since the time of the ancient Christians, psalms, biblical readings, and other prayers were said at fixed times throughout the day. The Divine Office is the way that the Church continues this ancient practice of praying the psalms, just as Jesus himself would have done. All priests are required to pray it in its entirety daily.
As religious, the Divine Office forms a central part of our life. We drop whatever we are doing in the morning, in the afternoon, in the evening, and at night to pray the Divine Office together. We seek to carry on the monastic tradition of praying for the sanctification of one's geographical area as well as the entire world through the chanting of the psalms.
Visitors are welcome to pray the Divine Office with the friars at 6:30am Tuesday through Saturday.
